I learned Spanish because I thought it was a pretty language. It was useful as well since I went to Mexico for 6 weeks in 1980, I went to Costa Rica for two weeks in 1982, and I spent three months in Peru as an exchange student in 1984 - and that is where I had my first real Spanish class! Later, as a Spanish teacher I went to Spain three times and to Mexico once with groups of students. I am able to communicate with friends from Latin America who live near and far. Please tell me briefly WHY you are taking Spanish I this year.
